My first full-scale white water raft trip was on the American River in central California's gold country.
I went with Linda Murrin and a group of friends from the San Fernando Valley including Tim and Donna Tobin.
It was a particularly memorable experience for many reasons.
It must have been before the era of liability insurance... the bus the rafting company used to haul us to the drop-in was ancient and had almost no brakes.
Several of us rode on the roof with the rafts so we could jump off in case the bus looked like it wouldn't make it on the steep roads.
Several of the rafts sprung a leak during the trip with people's feet hanging out the bottom.
We were treated to several nudists hanging out along the river.
All in all, a memorable trip...
